Katie Krance Schreck
President
Katie is a mother of a current full-day Catalpa student, who is the light of her life and keeps her on her toes! Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Katie made her way to Chicago after high school, where she met and married a lifelong Chicagoan. Her current hobbies include tending to her many pets and houseplants, as well as learning to garden in the yard of her two-flat. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and she always enjoys a good laugh. Being the president of Friends of Catalpa is her most fulfilling role, second only to being a mother.
-
Louie Sevandal
Treasurer
Louie is a proud father of a current 4 year old Catalpa student and a future 3 year old student. He is a native Chicagoan, University Illinois civil engineering graduate, and an adopted northsider (although his heart will always be with the White Sox - as painful as that can be sometimes...). His background in project management aid in his duties as FOC treasurer. He enjoys working within a team and is open to engaging with all stakeholders to help fulfill the FOC's mission to make Catalpa's environment as enriching as possible for its students.
-
Brianne Duncan Fiore
Recording & Corresponding Secretary
Brianne is the mother of three very active, creative, and sweet children, the youngest of which has the amazing fortune of attending Catalpa ECC. She is grateful beyond words that her student has the opportunity to grow at this amazing school! Brianne has a background in the performing arts as an actor, vocalist, voiceover artist, and teaching artist. Her office work at local theatres coupled with her service on nonprofit boards has aided her work to support the efforts of the Friends of Catalpa. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing piano, crocheting, yoga, gardening, Monarch conservation, and restoring her family’s 1920’s bungalow.

In-school Events
Student enrichment programs support child cognitive and social development, introduce kids to new activities and hobbies, and help kids develop the attitudes and skills to achieve their academic goals.
-
Outside of the classroom
Reinforce lessons students have learned in the classroom. Reading and hearing about concepts is one thing, but having the opportunity to experience them firsthand is another entirely. This helps them solidify their understanding and provides a real-world example to reference.
